After a fleece is sheared off the sheep it goes onto the "skirting table" cut side down. The table has some type of mesh or slats so that the dirt, second cuts and small bits of wool can fall to the floor. When we skirt we gently shake the fleece to get all that we can to fall out. We remove all the parts that are contaminated with what ever might be on the fleece that we don't want. All of my fleeces are skirted on shearing day but I go over them all again before I sell them . Fiber artists seem to find my fleeces pretty clean. I do try to describe exceptions on individuals. I try to produce clean fleeces but the sheep do live outside with the grasses and weeds.
Gibt es für die Technik ein spezielles deutsches Wort?
